Let’s Talk Treats!

Menu for Saturday, Mar 30

I’m closing out March with two new items on the menu, almond butter cookies and a childhood favorite (made with better ingredients), whoopie pies. I will also have almond butter mini muffins, and pretzels. As always, I will have plenty of free samples of each item. Please just do me one favor and wish for warmer weather and better forecasts!

Menu for Saturday, Mar 23

So we are back to rain and chilly after several days of beautiful blue skies and 70ºF weather. But the treats this weekend will make you happy you made the trip to the Salem Saturday Market between the hours of 9 am – 2 pm. This week I have a new item on the menu, coconut macaroons along with blueberry hand pies, English muffins, and doughnut holes. Please ask to try any or all of them!

Menu for Saturday, Mar 16

Ok, who was the wise guy that ordered those wind gusts last Saturday? Due to high winds and vendors losing product (and whole tents), the market had to close early last week. But this week is forecast to be nice, so come by and try the free samples of all the goodies I will have. They are: Almond butter bread, coffee cake muffins, pound cake, and sunflower seed nuggets.

Menu for Saturday, Mar 9

A new season of the Salem Saturday Market has begun, let’s just wish for warmer weather and no snow! This week I will have: Banana-Chocolate Chip Muffins, Irish Soda Bread, Lemon Poppy Seed Bread, and Spice Cookies. If you like your cookies with a spicy kick, be sure and ask for a free sample of the spice cookies, they are made with turmeric, ginger, black pepper, and cinnamon. And if you are not into spice, I will have free samples of the other items in the case also.

The Salem Saturday Market is from 9:00 – 2:00, but I’m usually set up by 8:30. Let’s make this our best season yet!

Note for Saturday, Mar 2

I will not be at the Salem Saturday Market on opening day. I’m going to my granddaughter’s wedding that is being held on the same day.

But I do have my booth space for the market season and will be in space C15 this year. I will be there starting on March 9, then every Saturday (except 2 weeks in August) until the end of the season. Please come by and say hello and try one (or more) free samples that I will have each week.

Menu for Saturday, Feb 24

It’s our last Saturday at the Salem Winter Market in the 45th Parallel Building! This winter has flown by and it’s been so fun meeting new people, seeing past customers, and making friends. Spring and Summer are coming up and I’m ready for warm weather, although I don’t look forward to setting up and taking down my booth every week. It’s been nice to be able to leave everything set up inside a locked room. Oh well, you have to take the good with the bad.

This week on the menu are: Almond Orange Biscotti – ever a popular choice that is also vegan, Dinner Rolls, Gingerbread Scones for a last taste of the holidays, and Snickerdoodle Cookies which are fun cinnamon and (coconut) sugar bombs.

Menu for Saturday, Feb. 17

Only 2 more weeks of the Salem Winter Market in the 45th Parallel Building on Hyacinth Street. We are there from 10 am – 2 pm, so come and support our vendors who show up every week.

I always have free samples of everything in the case, so feel free to try one or all!

There will be some new vendors at the Winter Market this week also, so please come by and support our local small businesses. We will be in Suite #175 of the 45th Parallel Building from 10 am – 2 pm.

Winter Market Closed this Saturday, Jan. 13

Due to icy road conditions, the Salem Winter Market is going to be closed this Saturday (1/13). I will be back next Saturday (1/20) with Chocolate Donuts, Shortbread Cookies, Lime Crackers (20/bag), and Zucchini Bread.

Please be safe this week!

Thoughts of the Day

I’m not sure how it happens but time seems to slip away, one day it’s Monday and the next it’s Thursday. We get so busy in our lives, that it’s easy to miss days. I’m trying to slow down and appreciate each day this year, but it’s hard especially when you own a small business and have deadlines to meet. If you have any tips on how to appreciate each day, please let me know!

The news is getting out about the new Salem Winter Market, so please share with your friends, family, enemies, and/or strangers in the grocery store line. We are open every Saturday from 10 am – 2 pm in suite #175 in the 45th Parallel Building on Hyacinth Street.

This week I will have the ever popular Sunbutter Cookies, Almond Orange Biscotti, Lemon Poppyseed Bread, and Irish Soda Bread for the savory crowd.

Sorry for the Interruption

The website was down for several days but it is now fixed! Keeping up with all the new security stuff is daunting sometimes.

The new Salem Winter Market opened last week and all the vendors were pleased how the first day went. Let’s keep that happiness going. This Saturday we will stay open until 3:00 pm due to another event happening at the 45th Parallel Building.

This week I will have Brownies, Carrot Cake Bars, English Muffins, and Pecan Sandies on the menu and as samples.

Unfortunately, the last Thursday market that was scheduled for tonight (Sept. 14) has been cancelled. I appreciate all my customers that came out to the Thursday market, especially those “regulars”.

This Saturday and Monday, I will be serving spice cookies (made with ginger, turmeric, black pepper, and cinnamon) which are also nut free, walnut biscuits with a hint of honey, Irish soda bread for the savory crowd, and zucchini bread. Come see me in booth B14 this Saturday or booth 17 on Monday.

Menu for August 3, 5, and 7

I bought the best blackberries to turn into hand pies this week. They will be available along with Irish soda bread, sunflower seed nuggets, and spice cookies. The sunflower seed nuggets and the spice cookies don’t have any nuts for those with nut allergies. I’ve always got the ingredients for everything I’m selling, so please ask if you have any questions.

Menu for July 27, 29, and 31

First, I can’t believe July is behind us. It’s been a whirlwind of a summer so far, and I know August is going to be just as busy, if not busier. I will be in space 36 (along Winter Street close to Marion Ave) at the Saturday market from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, booth 17 at the Monday market from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm, and close to the information booth for the Thursday evening market from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

Menu for Monday, June 19

I’ve been remiss on keeping up with posting my menu every week. I’ll try to do better going forward. This week, I’ve got almond orange biscotti (which also happens to be vegan), banana bread (with a cassava flour base if you have a nut allergy), chocolate chip cookies (the chocolate chips are a dark chocolate with no added sweeteners), and hot dog buns (which can also be used for sandwich rolls). The Monday market is open from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm but I’m usually up and running by 9:00 am if you want to come by early.

The Thursday market is along Edgewater Street in West Salem and is open from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

The Saturday Market is Open!

The downtown Salem Saturday Market opened on March 4 to rain, snow flurries, and 23 mph wind gusts. Even though traffic was light, there were some brave individuals that came out to support those of us who set up shop (aka our canopies and wares). We had cranberry hand pies, lemon pound cake, mini muffins (made with almond butter and applesauce), and bagels.

Gift Cards!

This has nothing to do with treats, unless you want to know how to gift them to a friend or family member. You can now purchase gift cards for To Go Paleo through Square. Redeem them at the To Go Paleo booth at the Salem Farmers Markets on Thursday in West Salem, Saturday in downtown Salem, or Monday at the hospital market in Salem.

Oops!

Sometimes things don’t go quite right and the finished product doesn’t look anything like the picture in the cookbook. That’s what happened to these Hazelnut Chocolate Cookies. Even though they didn’t look very nice, they still tasted delicious. I mean, how can you go wrong combining chocolate and hazelnuts? Am I right??
