Let’s Talk Treats!

Winter Market is Coming!

Great news! There is going to be a new Winter Market. Starting on Nov. 25th, it will be every Saturday from 10 am – 2 pm inside the 45th Parallel Building at 2195 Hyacinth St. NE and it will run until the end of February. So please, tell everyone you know because we really want this market to be a success.

For the first week, I will have Anytime Cookies, Breadsticks, Cranberry Lemon Loaf, and “Sugar” Cookies as samples and to purchase.

Menu for October 28

For the last Saturday of the Salem Saturday Market, I will have Almond Orange Biscotti, Coffee Cake Muffins, Pretzels, and the ever popular Sunbutter Cookies. For the children who will trick-or-treat through the market, I will let them have a choice between Almond Butter Mini Muffins or Halloween candy (all gluten free but not Paleo). Come by booth B14 for free samples and plenty of treats.

I always have a list of ingredients for each item I sell. If you have any questions about the ingredients, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Menu for October 21

Yay, according to the forecast, we should have no rain for the last two market days! This Saturday, I will have blueberry muffins (made from locally grown blueberries), chocolate chip cookies, dinner rolls, and zucchini bread. As always, I will have free samples of each item. This week, thanks to an observant customer, I realized I forgot to put pricing on items for special order. I have since rectified that and all pricing is now there.

Menu for October 14

Saturday’s menu includes Chocolate Donuts, Hamburger Buns, Lemon Pound Cake, and Tahini Cookies. If you want something different, special orders are now open, use the order form or you can email me. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions regarding ingredients used or required minimums.

Menu for October 7

I can’t believe we are at October already, this year has been a whirlwind! The menu for this week includes Bagels (both plain and with seasoning), Banana Bread, Cranberry Hand Pies, and Gingersnap cookies. I’ll be in B14 again this week, so come by and say hello and try a (or some) free samples.

Menu for September 30

This Saturday I will have Almond Butter Bread, Blueberry Thumbprint Cookies, Doughnut Holes, and Sunflower Seed Nuggets as samples and for sale. The Saturday market is open from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm although a lot of vendors, including me, are set up and ready by 8:30 am. I am scheduled to be in space B14 every Saturday until the end of the season, which is the last Saturday of October.

Special Orders Information

As of October 1, I will be open for special orders. If you would like a special order, please use the order form. If you have any questions, please contact me via email or text.

Fall Festival Market on Wednesday, September 27

The last Wednesday market is coming up and there will be a Fall Festival to cap off the season for this market. I will be participating, and will have Almond Orange Biscotti, pound cake, shortbread cookies, and Sunbutter cookies. Hours are 3:00 – 7:00 pm and it will be at the Agriculture Center of Chemeketa Community College, on the corner of 45th Avenue and Fire Protection Way.

Menu for September 23 and 25

This Saturday and Monday, I have gingerbread scones which are perfect to usher in Fall, lime crackers, vanilla pound cake, and the ever popular Sunbutter cookies. Sunbutter is made with sunflower seeds and is a great alternative to peanut or almond butter.

Menu for September 16 and 18

Unfortunately, the last Thursday market that was scheduled for tonight (Sept. 14) has been cancelled. I appreciate all my customers that came out to the Thursday market, especially those “regulars”.

This Saturday and Monday, I will be serving spice cookies (made with ginger, turmeric, black pepper, and cinnamon) which are also nut free, walnut biscuits with a hint of honey, Irish soda bread for the savory crowd, and zucchini bread. Come see me in booth B14 this Saturday or booth 17 on Monday.

Menu for September 7, 9, and 11

The summer is winding down as is the Farmers Markets. The last day for the Thursday market in West Salem is Sept. 14, and the last day for the Monday market behind Salem hospital is Sept. 25. The Saturday market will continue until Oct. 28. For a taste of Fall, I will have an orange cranberry bread. I will also offer English muffins, almond butter mini muffins, and the always popular, snickerdoodle cookies.

Menu for August 24, 26, and 28

This weekend is for the chocolate lovers with brownies and chocolate donuts. Along with those two items, I will have coffee cake muffins and my favorite, breadsticks. The breadsticks are chewy with just the right amount of garlic and salt sprinkled on top. I always have free samples of everything I’m selling, so come by booth 25 along Marion Street on Saturday from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.

Menu for August 17, 19, and 21

This weekend, for the savory crowd, I’ve got bagels (both plain and with “everything” topping). For treats, I’m making carrot cake bars, pecan sandies cookies, and shortbread cookies. Everything is gluten-, grain-, diary-, and soy-free and the shortbread cookies are vegan. I’ll be in booth G19 at the Saturday market from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. I will also have the same options on Thursday in West Salem along Edgewater Street from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm and on Monday at the Salem Hospital between buildings A & C from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm.

Menu for August 3, 5, and 7

I bought the best blackberries to turn into hand pies this week. They will be available along with Irish soda bread, sunflower seed nuggets, and spice cookies. The sunflower seed nuggets and the spice cookies don’t have any nuts for those with nut allergies. I’ve always got the ingredients for everything I’m selling, so please ask if you have any questions.

Menu for July 27, 29, and 31

First, I can’t believe July is behind us. It’s been a whirlwind of a summer so far, and I know August is going to be just as busy, if not busier. This weekend the menu is biscuits, chocolate donuts, mini muffins made with almond butter, and tahini cookies. Come see me at the market today at the Salem Hospital between buildings A & C. I’m kind of tucked in the corner under the tree.

Menu for July 20, 22, and 24

Sorry, got a little behind in posting the menus for the week. This week I’m offering Anytime cookies (made with unsweetened shredded coconut, unsweetened dried cherries, dates, and walnuts); English muffins (which are made with cassava flour for those with nut allergies); blueberry muffins with whole, local blueberries; and lemon pound cake.

Menu for July 6, 8, and 10

I’m kicking off this week with a new recipe for rosemary crackers. These crackers are for those who have a nut allergy and are made with cassava flour, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, water, rosemary, olive oil, and salt. Also this week, I have Snickerdoodle cookies, thumbprint cookies (with strawberry jam in the middle), and zucchini bread. For the Saturday market this week, I will be in space G33.

Menu for June 29, July 1, and 3

To help you celebrate the July 4th holiday, I will have hamburger buns, lime tortilla chips, sunbutter cookies, and strawberry hand pies (made with local strawberries). There are always free samples of everything we are selling, so don’t be shy in asking for a sample (or four). Saturday we will be in space D3. Looking for us or another vendor? Check out this interactive map of the Saturday market!

Menu for June 22, 24, and 26

This week I will have coffee cake muffins, dinner rolls, shortbread cookies, and sunflower seed nuggets. To see the ingredients in each of these, please check out my ingredients page. All items will be available as free samples as well at all three markets. I will be in space 36 (along Winter Street close to Marion Ave) at the Saturday market from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, booth 17 at the Monday market from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm, and close to the information booth for the Thursday evening market from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

Menu for Monday, June 19

I’ve been remiss on keeping up with posting my menu every week. I’ll try to do better going forward. This week, I’ve got almond orange biscotti (which also happens to be vegan), banana bread (with a cassava flour base if you have a nut allergy), chocolate chip cookies (the chocolate chips are a dark chocolate with no added sweeteners), and hot dog buns (which can also be used for sandwich rolls). The Monday market is open from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm but I’m usually up and running by 9:00 am if you want to come by early.

Menu for Thursday, May 11

The Thursday market opened last week despite the rain and chilly weather. This week I will have carrot cake bars, banana-chocolate chip muffins, sunflower seed nuggets (the “flour” is ground up sunflower seeds), and Irish soda bread for sale and I always have free samples so you can try before you buy! The Thursday market is along Edgewater Street in West Salem and is open from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

Menu for Monday, May 1

This week means the opening of the Monday and Thursday farmers markets! The Monday market is behind the Salem Hospital along the breezeway between buildings A & C. I will be in space 17 serving Sunbutter cookies, spice cookies, blueberry muffins, and chocolate donuts. Along with being gluten-, grain-, and dairy-free, the Sunbutter cookies and spice cookies will also be nut free. The market will be open from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm.

Menu for Saturday, April 22

This week we will be in booth B5 and have shortbread cookies, mini muffins (made with almond butter & applesauce), chocolate chip cookies, and banana bread for sale and as samples. Our breads and treats are always made with 0% gluten, 0% grains, 0% dairy, and 100% deliciousness.

Menu for Saturday, April 8

The items on the menu this weekend are: gingerbread scones, lemon poppy seed bread slices, pecan sandies cookies, and hot dog buns. As per usual, we will be at booth B5. Something new this week is that we will have free samples of thumbprint cookies, blueberry muffins, lemon pound cake, and anytime cookies.

Menu for Saturday, March 18

For this Saturday’s market, I will have blueberry muffins (made with Oregon blueberries), carrot cake bread, brownies, and Irish soda bread for sale at booth B5. Come by and say hello!

The Saturday Market is Open!

The downtown Salem Saturday Market opened on March 4 to rain, snow flurries, and 23 mph wind gusts. Even though traffic was light, there were some brave individuals that came out to support those of us who set up shop (aka our canopies and wares). We had cranberry hand pies, lemon pound cake, mini muffins (made with almond butter and applesauce), and bagels.

Gift Cards!

This has nothing to do with treats, unless you want to know how to gift them to a friend or family member. You can now purchase gift cards for To Go Paleo through Square. Redeem them at the To Go Paleo booth at the Salem Farmers Markets on Thursday in West Salem, Saturday in downtown Salem, or Monday at the hospital market in Salem.

Christmas Cookies

Fun Christmas cookies

These are the perfect cookies to leave out for Santa, and they are better for him because they are gluten-free, grain-free, and dairy-free. Next time, I’ll use bigger cookie cutters though. These almost fell through the cooling rack.

These cookies are treats that are delicious, nutritious and made with locally grown Oregon hazelnuts. Combine anything with hazelnuts, especially locally grown ones, and it will be delicious!

Oops!

Sometimes things don’t go quite right and the finished product doesn’t look anything like the picture in the cookbook. That’s what happened to these Hazelnut Chocolate Cookies. Even though they didn’t look very nice, they still tasted delicious. I mean, how can you go wrong combining chocolate and hazelnuts? Am I right??

These didn’t turn out pretty, but they tasted good.
